Who Are We?
Infocomm Investments Private Limited (IIPL) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA). IIPL was first incorporated on 13 November 1996 under the name of National Computer Board (NCB) Holdings Private Limited, as a wholly-owned subsidiary of National Computer Board (NCB). On 1 December 1999, NCB and Telecommunications Authority of Singapore (TAS) merged to form IDA as a result of a growing convergence of information technology and telephony. Subsequently, NCB Holdings Private Limited changed its name to IIPL on 9 June 2000.
What Do We Do?
Unlike typical venture capital firms, IIPL works to complement IDA’s industry development efforts to build a globally competitive infocomm industry in Singapore. Operating an evergreen fund in excess of US$200 million for equity investment into growth-stage infocomm enterprises, IIPL firmly stands by our portfolio companies and sees our investments through.
What Other “Help” Do We Provide?
The number of high-tech start-ups formed in Singapore, including start-ups established by foreigners, have been increasing over the last 5 years, proving that Singapore indeed has significant value to offer. At IIPL, we strive to encourage and attract more infocomm start-ups from overseas and invested by reputable venture funds to locate engineering and other high-value activities in Singapore. This adds vibrancy to Singapore’s infocomm ecosystem, and eventually also expand the pool of potential investees for our equity investment programme. In working with global start-ups to locate their activities in Singapore, we facilitate their talent recruitment process; establishing partnerships and networks with the business community; and assist in securing government funding support and tie-ups with technology initiatives.
What Do We Invest In?
By growth-stage, we refer to companies that would already have developed products and/or services, may or may not be profitable, but have gained a certain amount of market traction and are seeking post-seed equity financing for rapid growth and expansion.
