Posted on August 5, 2009

Homes in Singapore will begin getting ultra-high speed broadband connections in the next few months. This fibre-to-the-home network is capable of delivering speed of 1Gbit/s. This infrastructure represents a unique platform for companies to leapfrog ahead to develop and offer next-gen content and services, be it in games, educational programmes, telemedicine etc. The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore is already in discussion with some 700 ‘retail services providers’ on the types of services they can provide. About 95% of Singapore’s residental and commerical building are expected to be served by this new broadband network by 2012
